Course Information, Terre Haute Triathlon:

The race course for 2008 will be the same from the previous year. The park has paved a new section at the back of the park connecting directly to the Heritage Trail. This will make the run course a bit faster and more shaded. The course is considered fast, and safe. The race will start promptly at 8:00 a.m., with a pre-race meeting at 7:50 a.m. at the beach house. Parking is sometimes a bit crowded, so please arrive early with that in mind.

Hawthorn Park Lake The lake swim will be in a triangular pattern with the bouys on your right. The race will start in 4 waves, 3 minutes apart. Different color Swim caps will be provided to designate waves, and are required for all participants. The water temperature is usually about 70 - 72 degrees. Wetsuits highly recommended. If you do not own a wetsuit, check out wetsuitrental.com

The bike course is almost completely repaved and should make for a very fast and safe venue. This is an out and back course with a cone turn-around in the middle of the road at the 20k mark. The bike course is open to traffic, but all major intersections have police blocking traffic.

Heritage Trail The run course will be on park trails, and the Heritage Exercise Trail. The Heritage Trail is flat and fast pavement limited to runners, walkers and cyclist. Atleast two water stations will be on the course. There will be a turn-around cone on the Heritage trail at the 4k mark with the last mile heading behind the park and to the western edge on the lake trail. You will then make a right turn as come up to the park road, for the last 1/4 mile back to the beach house in the front of the park.
